Industry experts warn gasoline prices will start to climb this weekend

Get ready for higher gasoline prices. That’s the message that Dan McTeague from GasBuddy.com want you to know.

Gasoline prices in Winnipeg and most of the country have plummeted over the last two months and are hovering around what we were paying nearly 18 months ago.

Currently, in Winnipeg, the average price of regular gasoline is 89.9 cents per litre and many stations have a pump price of 87.4 cents per litre.

McTeague says that with “extreme volatility” in oil markets the price of gasoline will fluctuate noticeably in the early part of 2019.

The reason gasoline prices began their downward turn was because of worries of an economic downturn, a U.S.-China trade dispute and concerns that OPEC won’t live up to their promise of production cuts.

McTeague says that we will be seeing extreme price movements throughout 2019 with oil prices going up and down five and 10 per cent in a given week.
