6.5% Increase to natural gas rates
The Public Utilities Board announced Wednesday that they have approved the application by Centra Gas, which is owned by Manitoba Hydro, to increase the primary gas rate by approximately 6.5%.
That means that if you buy natural gas as a residential customer you will pay an additional $49 a year to the utility to heat your home.
The primary gas rate was raised from $0.0819/m3 to $0.1055/m3 effective August 1, 2016. Primary gas is sold at cost by Centra to Manitoba customers.
Primary Gas rates will be reviewed again November 1, 2016.
