If you were driving around Winnipeg today you may have noticed that for the second time in a week the price of gasoline has taken a significant jump.
Gas prices on Monday, March 7, 2022, climbed at most stations by 10 cents per litre to $1.739. At least one station in the city had their price as high as $1.899.
Gaswizard.ca predicts that by Tuesday, March 8, the average price of gasoline in the city will be $1.859 per litre for regular, $1.879 for diesel and $2.059 for premium.
Many experts are blaming the gas price increase to the war in Ukraine and say that prices will continue to climb while there is still a conflict. It is estimated that Russia only supplies 10 per cent of world oil.
According to a media release from the federal government “Canada does not currently import any crude oil from Russia, and has not since 2019.”
