Garbage Hill is once more adorned with a “Hollywood” style sign, although much smaller after a local business donated it to the city.
Located in Westview Park the 3 x 20 foot white sign was paid for and built by SRS Signs and Service and is made out of aluminium and has been installed with approval from the city.
The original sign that popped-up earlier this year was made of drywall and was considered unsafe. It was removed by city crews mere hours after it was erected.
Mayor Brian Bowman was on hand for the official unveiling. Bowman was a supporter of a permanent sign and took to social media shortly after the first sign was removed to show his support for the idea.
Long live Garbage Hill. Our Hollywood mountain on the prairies. I’m with Winnipeggers who want the Garbage Hill sign back provided City processes are respected.
