RCMP have arrested a Calgary man after he nearly hit an RCMP officer who was conducting a traffic stop on the perimeter highway.
It happened on Saturday, March 17, 2018, just after 11:30 pm. As the officer was standing beside the vehicle he had pulled over another vehicle passed nearly hitting him.
Although police say the suspect vehicle was estimated at travelling within the posted speed limit in Manitoba vehicles are required to move over and reduce speed when passing emergency vehicles.
The officer ran back to his cruiser and gave chase. As he caught up to the suspect vehicle he noticed it was being driven erratically. Police were able to stop the suspect and he was arrested for impaired driving.
Police say the driver of the vehicle was wearing a biker vest that indicated he was a full patch member of the outlaw motorcycle gang the Suicide Crew.
The suspect became combative and refused to provide a breath sample. He also made a numbe of threats towards officers.
46-year-old Stephen McInnis from Calgary has been charged for his alleged involvement with Impaired Driving, Refusal to Provide a Breath Sample, Uttering Threats X 2, and Assaulting a Police Officer X 2.
He was detained in custody.
