The federal government announced Thursday that it would be contributing $1.2 million to the construction of a new aviation museum in Winnipeg pushing the fundraising goal past the half way mark.
The $35 million project will house nine exhibition galleries, a library, workshop and a kids centre. It will be constructed at the James Richardson Airport.
The Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada opened in its current home on ferry road in 1984 and has a number of unique displays including an exhibit dedicated to Canada’s bush-pilots.
