FREE Power (Sort of) –

Manitoba Hydro announced on Earth Day (April 22) that it has implemented a solar incentive program to help Manitobans harness the power of the sun. The Power Smart program will provide $1 per watt installed in rebates to help cover approximately 25% of the actual installation costs.

Once installed home and business owners will be able to use the virtually free power and sell any excess back to the grid through a special bi-directional metre that would be installed by hydro.

Solar energy is renewable and a 250 watt panel can easily run energy efficient lighting. Panels can be run is series increasing the total wattage available.
