RCMP say that a 69-year-old Winnipeg man is facing two counts of theft over $5,000 after he allegedly defrauded an elderly couple from Headingley.
Investigators say that they began an investigation in May of 2017. The victims had hired the services of the suspect after he told them he was a financial and tax advisor.
The investigation determined that the accused did not hold a current professional designation in the financial field and that he had convinced the couple to cash out a large portion of their assets for him to take care of on their behalf. Investigators believe that he used those funds for his personal benefit and did not use the assets as had been intended.
Charles Morrison, 69 from Winnipeg was arrested and charged.
He was remanded into custody
