The proposed four-year agreement between the City of Winnipeg and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) is headed to Executive Policy Committee (EPC) next week.
The agreement needs to be ratified by EPC before it moves to City Council for final approval
Under the agreement, CUPE members will see a one-time signing bonus of $900 and a 10.2 % wage increase over the life of the contract.
The wage increases break down as follows:
- 1.70% effective March 1, 2021, to be paid retroactively
- 1.00% effective March 1, 2022, to be paid retroactively
- 1.50% effective December 31, 2022 to be paid retroactively (as necessary)
- 1.50% effective March 1, 2023
- 1.50% effective December 31, 2023
- 1.50% effective March 1, 2024
- 1.50% effective September 1, 2024
In addition, a special wage adjustment fund of $400,000 for selected classifications will begin January 1, 2023, and a separate special wage adjustment fund of $1 million for selected classifications will begin January 1, 2024.
