Four deaths and 82 new cases of COVID-19 reported

82 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province today. Four more people died from the virus.

Those who died from COVID-19 are identified as:

  • a male in his 40s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 50s from the Northern health region;
  • a male in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region; and
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Concordia Place Personal Care Home.

The five-day test positivity rate is currently 6.1 per cent provincially and 3.8 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 30,158.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • six cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • 26 cases in the Northern health region;
  • eight cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • six cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
  • 36 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 3,309 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 26,007 people listed as recovered.

259 people are being treated in the hospital of which 101 are considered infectious. 40 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 23 of them still considered infectious.

842 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

1,529 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 488,064 tests completed.

An outbreak has been declared in the dialysis unit at St. Anthony’s General Hospital in The Pas.
