Four deaths and 80 new cases announced on Sunday

80 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province today. Four more people died from the virus.

Those who died from COVID-19 are identified as:

  • a male in his 70s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to an outbreak at the Poseidon Care Centre;
  • a male in his 90s from the Winnipeg health region; and
  • a male in his 100s from the Winnipeg health region.

The five-day test positivity rate is currently 6.1 per cent provincially and 3.8 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 30,237.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • four cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • 28 cases in the Northern health region;
  • nine cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • eight cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
  • 31 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 3,256 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 26,135 people listed as recovered.

263 people are being treated in the hospital of which 105 are considered infectious. 38 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 21 of them still considered infectious.

846 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

1,434 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 489,506 tests completed.
