Four charged with manslaughter after 18 year old was stabbed in August 2017

As News 4 told you on August 18, 2017, an 18-year-old male was found by police in the area of Sargent Avenue and McMicken Street suffering from stab wounds. Tyler William Ranville was taken to hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries.

Investigators from the homicide unit determined that had broken out between two groups of males in the area of Sargent Avenue and Young Street. During the dispute, the victim was stabbed in the upper body and then stumbled into traffic.

Homicide detectives were able to identify several suspects in the case and have made four arrests since the end of August.

A 16-year-old male was arrested August 31, 2107, near Ellice and Langside. The next day two more suspects were picked up and arrested. 
Nasim Abddullahi Ahmed, 18 from Winnipeg, was arrested near Sargent Avenue and Balmoral Street. A few blocks over at Sargent and Young 18-year-old  Yonas Gebremekeal from Winnipeg was arrested.

Winnipeg’s Street Crime Unit made an arrest of a fourth suspect after seeing him as a passenger in a vehicle on Alexander. The vehicle took off hitting a cruiser car then striking a tree. 20-year-old Abdullahi Jemal Ahmed was arrested after a short foot chase in the 1800 block of Pacific.

All four of the suspects have been charged with manslaughter and held in custody.
