Four additional deaths and 81 new cases identified on Friday

81 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province today. Four additional deaths reported due to the virus.

Those who died from COVID-19 are identified as:

  • a male in his 70s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a male in his 70s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a male in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region; and
  • a male in his 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Concordia Place Personal Care Home.

The five-day test positivity rate is currently 4.8 per cent provincially and 4.0 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 30,588.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • five cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • 25 cases in the Northern health region;
  • three cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • 28 cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
  • 20 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 1,582 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 28,140 people listed as recovered.

240 people are being treated in the hospital of which 90 are considered infectious. 29 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 11 of them still considered infectious.

866 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

1,972 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 497,691 tests completed.

Outbreaks have been declared at the Seven Oaks General Hospital unit 3U 4-7 and Riverview Health Centre, both in Winnipeg.
