FortWhyte Alive conducted a controlled burn on their property just south of Sterling Lyon Parkway on Wednesday, June 12, 2019.
The controlled burn is used to naturally remove built up thatch in the grasslands, rejuvenating not only the natural grasses but also an abundance of wildflowers.
FortWhyte took a number of precautions to ensure a safe burn and notified residents and businesses in the area.
The burn was conducted by Native Plant Solutions a company that has been conducting controlled burns at various sites in Winnipeg for the past 15 years.
The last controlled burn at the site was in 2015.Share Post |
