The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) has charged a former mentor with multiple offences related to sexual assault, child pornography, and voyeurism.
Matthew James Mousseau, 37, of Winnipeg was arrested on December 17, 2024, following an investigation by the Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit. The investigation began after a survivor came forward with information.
“We are incredibly grateful to the survivor who bravely came forward,” said Constable Claude Chancy of the WPS ICE Unit. “This type of investigation is especially difficult, and their courage is commendable.”
The investigation revealed that Mr. Mousseau allegedly had inappropriate relationships with four young females between the ages of 12 and 17. Three of the victims were students in a program where Mr. Mousseau acted as a mentor.
The charges against Mr. Mousseau include:
- Voyeurism
- Possession and Accessing of Child Pornography
- Indecent Exposure to a Person Under 16
- Luring a Person Under 18 by Telecommunication
- Supply Liquor to a Minor
- Sexual Assault (multiple counts)
- Sexual Exploitation (multiple counts)
Mr. Mousseau remains in custody.
