A former Winnipeg gym teacher is facing a number of sex offences after she allegedly was involved in a sexual relationship with a former student who was a minor at the time.

According to Winnipeg Police Service the student was groomed by the accused who engaged in inappropriate physical and sexual contact with her while on school trips and at other times in the city.

The incidents occurred while the victim was a student at College Beliveau and continued after she no longer attended the school.

Police charged 41-year-old Amanda Rachelle Sherrett on March 29, 2024 for her alleged involvement with Sexual Assault, Sexual Exploitation and Luring a Person Under 18 years of age by means of Telecommunication.

Sherrett was released under Crown-authorized conditions.
