Long time Daniel McIntyre city councillor, Harvey Smith has died at age 80.
Smith had been in and out of hospital after he fell in the summer of 2016.
He had more than 24 years on council over his career first representing Sargent Park then Daniel McIntyre. From 1986 to 1988 Smith also served in the provincial legislature and an NDP MLA under Howard Pawley.
Smith was famous for voting his conscience on city council over the years and looking out for the people of his ward. He was outspoken and always trying to do what was the best for the city, even if that meant butting heads with the Mayor and other councillors.
