Food delivery driver carjacked, officer dragged by car

Winnipeg Police have a 25-year-old female in custody after she allegedly carjacked an online food delivery driver Tuesday night, November 5, 2019.

Police say that around 11:20 pm the driver was making a delivery in the 300 block of Sherbrook Street when the accused approached and stole his vehicle while brandishing a knife.

Police spotted the stolen vehicle about 25 minutes later near Dufferin Avenue and Parr Street. A K-9 officer and general patrol units pursued the vehicle and were able to get it stopped in the 400 block of Prichard Avenue.

As officers were about to take the people in the vehicle into custody the female driver put the vehicle in gear and drove away. The K-9 officer was dragged a short distance before the vehicle sped off.

Police pursued the vehicle again until the driver abandoned it in the 300 block of Powers Street. Both the driver and a male passenger fled on foot in an attempt to evade officers.

The female driver was quickly arrested.

Klarrisa Faye Muswagon, 25 from Winnipeg is facing a number of charges for her alleged involvement including Robbery, Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer, Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon, Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, Fail to Comply Condition Undertaking by Judge/Justice (x2), Fail to Comply with Probation Order, Drive without licence or with invalid licence.

She was detained in custody.
