Flood watch issued as more rain expected

Manitoba’s Hydrologic Forecast Centre has issued a flood watch for both northwest and southeast Manitoba including the Whiteshell lakes area.

Storms over the weekend brought 155 mm of rain to areas of southeast Manitoba and up to 25 mm of rain to areas of northwest Manitoba.

Forecasters say another storm system is moving towards the province that could bring an additional 30 mm of precipitation to these areas in the next two days.

Localized flooding could occur in low-lying areas as local rivers and streams have already begun to rise.
