$20,000 urgently needed after Lighthouse Mission flood
Water has invaded the century old home of Lighthouse Mission on Main Street shutting down operations as staff scramble to keep afloat.
Last week a crushed drain pipe under Main Street caused water to back up into the basement of the local soup kitchen damaging the boiler, fridges and freezers, a hot water tank and sound equipment stored there.
Damage is estimated to be around $50,000 and even though much of the repairs will be covered by insurance the mission needs help raising $20,000 to replace food and get back up and running by early June.
The food that was in the fridges and freezer was able to be saved and most of it was given to the Main Street Project a few blocks away.
