Spring flooding may reach levels higher than 2009 with normal weather conditions.
According to the Hydrologic Forecast Centre of Manitoba Infrastructure, heavy snow across the northern United States and the Red River Valley will cause substantial flooding on the Red River and its tributaries.
Although flood levels will depend on the rate the snowpack melts indicators point to the Red River reaching 22 feet at James Avenue in Winnipeg if there are unfavourable weather conditions in the next few weeks.
The province will be releasing a updated flood outlook in the next few days.
