Flin Flon bank robber nabbed in less than a day

A 44-year-old Flin Flon man is behind bars after allegedly robbing a financial institution in the community on Thursday. January 14, 2021.

According to investigators the male walked into the business just after 1:10 pm and demanded a teller give him cash. He told the employee that he had a bomb in his bag and was armed with a gun.

The robber was given an undisclosed amount of cash, left his bag in the business and took off on foot. Witnesses did not see the firearm the male claimed to have.

Police arrived and determined the bag did not contain an explosive device.

In talking to witnesses one of the officers recognized the description of the suspect. The officer had spoken to him about an hour prior to the robbery.

The next day RCMP from Saskatchewan located the suspect at a home in Denare Beach, SK and placed him under arrest.

Marcel Swap has been charged for his alleged involvement with Robbery and uttering threats.

The investigation continues.
