Five facing charges in Maryland Street attack

Winnipeg Police have arrested five people in connection to a serious assault September 1, 2020, in the 700 block of Maryland Street.

The victim in his 20s was brutally attacked around 10:25 pm by a group of people say investigators. The victim suffered injuries to his head and face and was taken to hospital in critical condition.

One suspect was arrested near Sherbrook Street shortly after the assault. The other four suspects were arrested over the next few weeks.

Brendan Nigel Percy MONIAS, 27, has been charged for his alleged involvement with Aggravated Assault, Possess Weapon, Carry Concealed Weapon/Prohibited Device, Resist Peace Officer and three counts of Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order.
 
Jonathan Malachai FLETT, 18, has been charged for his alleged involvement with Attempt to Commit Murder, Possess Weapon and Fail to Comply Sentence.
 
A 17-year-old male was charged for his alleged involvement with Aggravated Assault and Fail to Comply Sentence
 
Brittany Michelle FIDDLER, 30, has been charged for her alleged involvement with Assault with a Weapon, Possess Weapon and Fail to Comply with Release Order.
 
 
Michael Kehche HARPER, 31, has been charged for his alleged involvement with Aggravated Assault, Possess Scheduled Substance (Methamphetamine) and Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking.
 
All of the accused were detained in custody.
