Five additional deaths and 133 new cases identified

Manitoba Public Health announced today that there are 133 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province and five more people have died.

Those deaths include:

  • a female in her 70s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the Holy Family Home;
  • a male in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Oakview Extended Care Facility;
  • a female in her 90s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region, linked to the outbreak at the Portage District General Hospital;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region and linked to the outbreak at the Convalescent Home.

The five day test positivity rate is 12.4 per cent provincially and 12.1 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 24,385.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • Six cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region
  • three cases in the Northern health region
  • five cases in Prairie Mountain health region
  • 22 cases in the Southern health region
  • 97 cases in the Winnipeg health region

There are currently 4,424 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 19,302 people who have been listed as recovered.

338 are being treated in hospital of which 246 are considered infectious. 36 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 32 of them still considered infectious.

659 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

1,371 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 418,344 tests completed.

Outbreaks have been declared at the Health Sciences Centre unit GA4 and at Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg.
