Firefighters responded to two fires Thursday.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to two fires of note on Thursday, June 16, 2022.

Rannock Avenue

At 2:09 pm firefighters responded to a fire in a two-storey home in the 5900 block of Rannock Avenue.

When emergency crews arrived on the scene they saw smoke coming from the structure. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 3:07 pm.

Two people who were in the home at the time of the fire were able to self-evacuate. Paramedics on-scene assessed the residents and transported both to hospital in stable condition. No other injures were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Poplar Avenue

Shortly after 6:00 pm a fire was reported in a combination one-storey, two-story commercial complex in the 300 block of Poplar Avenue.

Smoke was found throughout the inside of the building and crews were able to located the source of the fire to be in the boiler room. An offensive attack was launched with the fire being brought under control within 30 minutes.

No injuries were reported.

Officials say the boiler room suffered minor damage and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
