Firefighters responded to two early morning fires on Sunday

Arlington Street

The cause of a fire in a vacant Arlington Street two-storey house is under investigation.

Firefighters were called to the scene in the 400 block around 12:30 am Sunday, September 12, 2021 and were greeted with heavy smoke and flames. An offensive attack was launched with the fire being declared under control by 1:34 am.

A search of the building found no one inside and no injuries were reported.

Officials say that the building had a previous fire in August 2020.

De la Seigneurie Boulevard Fire

At 2:31 am Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to an alarm in a three-storey apartment building in the 100 block of De la Seigneurie Boulevard.

When crews arrived they found that a kitchen fire in one of the suites had been put out by the building’s sprinkler system. Firefighters ensured all hotspots had been extinguished.

The residents in the building were evacuated and one suffered minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Officials say the suite where the fire started suffered fire and water damage while several other suites suffered water damage.
