Firefighters respond to two fires overnight

Two fires overnight are under investigation

EMERSON AVENUE FIRE

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a residential fire in the 400 block of Emerson Avenue late Sunday night, December 26, 2021.

When crews arrived on the scene light smoke could be seen inside the home. Fire was found inside a building cavity and an offensive attack was launched. The fire was declared under control at 11:08 pm.

Those who were inside the building were able to get out prior to the arrival of firefighters. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

ARDEN AVENUE FIRE

At 6:47 am on Monday, December 27, 2021 crews responded to an automatic alarm at a seven-storey apartment building on Arden Avenue.

The fire was in a single suite on the third folly and was quickly contained and declared under control within 20 minutes. Fire officials say that the damage was contained to the single suite.

Two occupants were treated on-scene by paramedics. One was taken to hospital in stable condition the other did not need to be transported. On other injuries were reported.

The City’s Emergency Social Services Unit was called in to help several people find temporary accommodations.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
