Firefighters respond to two fires on Alfred and Ellice Avenues

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to fires Sunday night into Monday morning.

Alfred Avenue

Around 9:17 pm crews responded to a one-and-a-half-storey home in the 900 block of Alfred Avenue.

As firefighters arrived they encountered smoke coming from the home. No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

An offensive attack was launched with the fire being declared under control at 10:01 pm.

Fire officials say that they believe the cause of the fire was accidental.

Ellice Avenue

Just before 2:20 am on Monday, December 7, 2020 firefighters responded to a three-storey apartment building in the 500 block of Ellice Avenue.

An offensive attack was launched and the fire was brought under control by 2:45 am.

Firefighters then ventilated the building and once it was safe, residents were able to return to their suites.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
