Firefighters respond to two early morning fires Saturday

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews were busy Saturday morning as they battled two fires simultaneously.

Selkirk Avenue

Just before 2:00 am on Saturday, June 6, 2020, fire crews responded to the report of a fire in the 500 block of Selkirk Avenue.

As crews arrived on scene they encountered smoke coming from a two-storey building. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was under control by 2:09 am.

One firefighter received a minor injury and was treated at the scene by paramedics.

No one was found in the structure during a search by fire crews.

The fire is under investigation.

Erin Street

Firefighters also responded to an outside fire on Erin Street. Crews were called to the scene around 1:45 am.

As they arrived smoke was billowing into the morning sky. The fire appeared to be in a pile of debris behind a commercial building.

An offensive attack was launched and the blaze was soon brought under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
