Firefighters respond to several fires Sunday night

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service had a busy evening on Sunday, September 13, 2020, responding to several fires.

Around 5;47 pm crews were called to a vacant two-storey home in the 300 block of Alfred Avenue.

Smoke was billowing out of the structure as firefighters arrived on the scene. An offensive attack was launched with the fire being brought under control around 6:53 pm.

crews confirmed no one was inside the building and no injuries were reported.

Crews responded to a second blaze around 7:40 pm, this time a detached garage was on fire in the 700 block of Buckingham Road. Crews were greeted with heavy smoke and flames coming from the well-involved structure fire.

Once again an offensive attack was launched with the fire declared under control at 8:09 pm. No injuries were reported.

Both fires are under investigation say fire officials.

Throughout the evening firefighters responded to several other fires including a structure fire on Edison Avenue around 6:42 pm, A structure fire on Hespeler Avenue at 7:39 pm, an outside fire on St. Johns Avenue at Charles Street around 8:27 and a structure fire on Willowlake Crescent just after 10:00 pm.
