Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to several structures fires on Thursday, July 8, 2021.
Minutes before 3:00 am firefighters were called to a garage fire in the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue. Flames and smoke greeted them as they arrived and the fire had extended to the nearby duplex on the property. An offensive attack was launched an the fire was declared under control at 4:57 am
No injuries were reported. The residents had safely evacuated before emergency crews arrived.
At 10:30 am fire was reported in a single-storey duplex in the 800 block of Stewart Street. Smoke was coming from the building when crews arrived and an offensive attackers launched. The fire was under control at 10:56 am.
No injuries were reported. Everyone inside the building got out before firefighters arrived on the scene.
Emergency crews were called to a Blake Street three-storey apartment building around 11:52 am after a fire broke out in the building. The fire was quickly extinguished and declared under control by 12:10 pm.
Firefighters had to help two people out of the building and two who had self evacuated suffered injuries while getting out of the building. Paramedics transported three people from the scene – two in unstable condition and one in stable condition.
All three fires are under investigation.
