Winnipeg emergency crews responded to a number of vehicle rollovers across the city on Sunday night, February 20, 2022, due to poor road conditions.

Just after 9:00 pm, firefighters were called to Talbot Avenue near Grey Street after an SUV rolled onto the driver’s side. One person was transported to hospital in unknown condition.

At 9:18 pm an SUV rolled onto its roof on St. Mary’s Road. The driver, passenger and dog inside were not injured. News 4 spoke to the driver who said he was driving in the outside lane between the ruts and that when he tried to change lanes his vehicle bounced over one of the ruts and rolled.

Minutes after midnight on Monday morning firefighters were called to the eastbound lanes of Corydon Avenue at Lindsay Street after an SUV lost control climbed the snowbank then rolled onto the driver’s side. There was no one in the vehicle when firefighters arrived on the scene.

These weren’t the only rollovers over the weekend either. On Friday night a rollover shut down Maryland Avenue for several hours and sent one male to hospital after firefighters had to cut off the roof of the vehicle in order to get the driver out.

In each incident, the roads were extremely slippery at the time of the rollovers. It appears speed may have played a factor in some of these incidents.
