
Just before 6:30 pm on Thursday, August 4, 2022, firefighters responded to a number of reports of fire at Westridge Community Club.
As emergency crews arrived on the scene they found the bench area of a hockey shack on fire. The shack was connected to a hockey rink. An offensive attack was launched. Crews entered the structure to make sure that the blaze had not extended any further. The fire was declared under control at 7:09 pm.
No one was inside the building at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
The fire was contained to the bench area of the rink with the interior of the shack having minor smoke and water damage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
