Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a couple of early morning fires on Saturday, August 6, 2022.
Main Street
Minutes before 1:30 am firefighters responded to a fire in the Sutherland Hotel on Main Street.
When firefighters arrived they found that the building’s sprinkler system had already extinguished a fine in a single suite. Firefighters made sure all the hotspots were put out and turned off the sprinkler system.
Residents were able to return to their suites. The hotel was also able to provide other rooms to those were rooms were damaged in the fire.
Rutland Street
At 3:16 am emergency crews were called to a fire in a vacant house in the 300 block of Rutland Street.
An offensive attack was launched after firefighters found a blaze in a portion of the building. The fire was declared under control at 4:29 am.
Officials say that people in a neighbouring home were temporarily evacuated as a precaution but were able to return once the fire was out.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of both fires is under investigation
