Winnipeg Firefighters responded to a three-storey apartment building in the 700 block of Sargent Avenue around 6:00 am today for the report of a structure fire.
As emergency crews arrived on the scene they saw smoke and flames coming from the structure and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control in about 15 minutes.
Officials say the blaze was contained to a single suite in the building.
Occupants of the apartment block were able to get themselves out before firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported.
Once the building had been ventilated most residents were able to return to their suites.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
