Firefighters respond to blaze in vacant Selkirk Avenue commercial building.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to the report of a fire in a vacant Selkirk Avenue commercial building on Saturday, September 7, 2023.

A News 4 crew was in the area around 8:35 pm and spotted heavy smoke coming from the building and called 911. While crews were responding a bystander entered the building to search for anyone inside but was ordered out by other bystanders in the area.

Firefighters launched an offensive attack inside the structure and had the fire under control within 20 minutes.

A search of the sturcture found no one inside and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
