Firefighters rescue one person from Bannatyne Avenue fire

One person was rescued from a burning building early Sunday morning, May 15, 2022, in the 1500 block of Bannatyne Avenue.

Firefighters were called to the single-storey house around 4:43 am. When they arrived they found smoke coming from the structure. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was quickly brought under control by 5:00 am.

On-scene paramedics treated the rescued person and transported them to hospital in stable condition. Firefighters also rescued a cat from the building and handed it over to Animal services.

Officials say the building suffered minor damage from smoke and fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
