Winnipeg firefighters were called to a garage fire in the 700 block of Berkley Street around 9:15 pm on Tuesday, November 29, 2022.
When crews arrived on the scene they found the garage fully engulfed in flames. Crews attacked the blaze getting it under control at 9:50 pm.
Bystanders at the scene told firefighters that a person was trapped inside the garage. the person was located but was declared dead at the scene. One person was assessed by paramedics at the scene but did not require hospitalization.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but is believed to be accidental say officials.
