Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a rescue call on Saturday, afternoon, July 23, 2022, on Orchard Hill Dive around 4:00 pm.
When crews arrived a man was trapped in a trench beside a home that had partially collapsed. Firefighters worked to dig the man out but the sides of the trench continued to collapse. Members of the technical rescue team put together material that could be used to shore up the trench.
After approximately 90 minutes the male was freed. He walked under his own power to a waiting ambulance where he was assessed by paramedics. The man did not require hospitalization.
The is no word on what caused the collapse.
