Firefighters battled two house fires in Winnipeg on Wednesday morning, February 15, 2023.
At 10:45 am the call came in about a fire in a two-storey, multi-family home on Riverton Avenue.
Smoke was coming from the building when firefighters got to the scene. An offensive, interior attack, was launched and the blaze was declared under control at 11:10 am.
No occupants were found in the home and no injuries were reported.
At 11:53 am firefighters were called to extinguish a fire in a bungalow on Penny Lane. Heavy smoke was coming from the home and an offensive, interior attack, was launched. the fire was declared under control at 12:54.
Although everyone inside the building was able to get out, one person was assessed by paramedics and taken to the hospital.
Two dogs were also found inside the home with injuries sustained in the fire. Paramedics provided medical attention to the animals until officers from the Animal Services Agency arrived and took over their care.
The cause of both fires is under investigation.
