Firefighters battled two fires Friday night

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to two structure fires on Friday night, January 29, 2021.

Balmoral Street

At about 6:00 pm crews were called to a three-storey, multi-family residence in the 500 block of Balmoral Street for a structure fire.

People inside the building were able to get themselves out of the building before firefighters arrived on the scene. Smoke was coming from the building prompting an offensive attack on the fire. The fire was declared under control by 6:29 pm.

Residents were able to return to their suites on firefighters ventilated the the building.

Bill Blaikie Bay

Minutes before 11:00 pm firefighters were called to a two-storey, single family home in the first 100 block of Bill Blaikie Bay.

Smoke was billowing from the home as emergency crews arrived on the scene. An offensive attack was launched with the fire being declared under control at 11:51 pm.

Everyone inside the home were able to safely exit.

No injuries were reported.

Investigators will be investigating both fires to determine the cause.
