Winnipeg firefighters responded to a fire in the 400 block of Young Street early this morning in a two-storey house.
As crews arrived on the scene around 5:00 am they encountered smoke coming from the building and launched an offensive attack.
Extreme cold temperatures made crews take extra precautions including rotating personnel through the various roles required during a fire more often.
It took about 40 minutes for the fire to be declared under control. A search of the structure found no one inside. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
