Firefighters battle two structure fires on Thursday afternoon

Winnipeg FireParamedic Service responded to two structure fires on Thursday afternoon, May 11, 2023.

Point Douglas Avenue

According to officials the first fire call came in around 1:29 pm and was in a commercial building in the first 100 block of Point Douglas Avenue. When firefighters arrived on the scene they encountered smoke and flames coming from the building. An interior attack was launched with the fire being declared under control at 1:40.

A Firefighter at the scene told News 4 that the fire was in a pile of debris inside the structure

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Dufferin Avenue Fire

The second fire call came in at 3:07 pm at a vacant house in the 400 block of Duffrin Avenue.

Crews launced a defensive exterior attack on the house after seeing smoke and flames coming from the building. The fire was declared under control at 3:35 pm.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation
