Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was called to a fire in a two-storey vacant house on Agnes Street just after 9:00 pm on Sunday, March 12, 2023.
When crews arrived they found smoke and flames coming from the building and launched a defensive attack from outside the structure until it was safe to move inside.
Firefighters also protected neighbouring homes while they battled the blaze. The fire was declared under control at 9:57 pm.
Eight residents from two neighbouring homes were temporarily evacuated as a precaution. A Winnipeg Transit bus was at the scene and provided shelter to those who had been displaced. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
