Firefighter injured while fighting Manitoba Avenue blaze

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a fire in a two-storey duplex in the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue around 12:38 am on Monday, June 20, 2022.

Smoke was coming from the building as crews arrived and an offensive attack was launched. It took just under an hour for the fire to be declared under control.

Due to the extreme heat, firefighters were rotated in and out during the battle to help prevent heat-related illness. One firefighter did sustain an injury. They were taken to hospital in stable condition, treated and released.

No other injuries were reported.

A search of the building found no one inside.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
