While working on scene of a dryer fire at the Norwood Hotel on Marion Street a Winnipeg firefighter sustained an injury to the side of the head.

According to fire officials the firefighter was taking hose off the truck when a coupling that connects sections of hose struck the crew member in the head. The firefighter was transported to hospital in stable condition.

The call to the fire happened around 11:00 am Sunday morning. The hotel was evacuated and it was determined a commercial dryer was on fire. It was quickly put out.

Two employees of the hotel were checked out by paramedics for smoke inhalation at the scene.

Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the fire. There is no estimate of damage costs.
