The Mayor of Virden says he is devastated after a fire ripped through the small town’s historic exchange district.

It began early Saturday morning September 23, 2017, around 5:00 am.
The fire engulfed an electronics store in a century-old building and quickly spread to two others before local firefighters were able to douse the flames.
Virden is about 270 kilometres west of Winnipeg.
