Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a fire just after 6:00 pm Monday evening, May 18, 2020 on William Whiteway Bay.
Heavy smoke was coming from the home as firefighters arrived on scene.
An offensive attack wa launched and the fire was under control by 6:44 pm.
The only person in the residence was able to get out before emergency crews arrived. They were assessed by paramedics on scene and taken to hospital in stable condition.
Firefighters safely rescued a dog inside the home while doing a search of the structure.
The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. Officials say that flammable liquid came in contact with a heat source setting off the fire.
