Fire Officials asking Residents to Clear Backlanes

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service wants Winnipegers to clear the backlanes around their homes to reduce the chance of arson. They also are reminding people that the city will pick up discarded large items like sofas or mattresses for $10 each.

News4 contacted 311 and was told that large item pick up occurs on your regular garbage day but that they need a minimum 2 business days notice prior to pickup. So in other words you will have to wait at least 3 days and as many as 9 days or more to have that old sofa hauled away.
