Fire crews arrived to a burning home on Garfield Street between Sargent and Wellington just after 8:30  Tuesday morning.

The house was billowing thick smoke when firefighters arrived but they were delayed in their efforts to extinguish the blaze because a man had barricaded himself within the burning home.

Police were able to quickly arrest and remove the man from the house.

When fire crews did get into the structure they found several seperate fires had been started in different areas of the building.
